Quiz Corner
Just as your body needs exercises and work out our mind also needs exercises. Puzzles, riddles, anagrams and other brain teasers help in this regard and sharpen our analytical ability and creativity.

Over the last 4 years hundreds of puzzles and anagrams have been compiled & posted in the Weekly Fraternity Briefs and other ezines and groups. Selected items are presented here. Some of them are mind boggling or tough but most of them are simple. One does not have to be a mathematical wizard to solve them. Simple reasoning would suffice in most cases.

In a magic square the sum of numbers in each row,  column and in the two diagonals comes to the same figure. In the above Magic Square that sum comes to 34. In a Diabolic Magic Square a further condition is that the square should be magic along the broken diagonals besides the two diagonals and columns. In this magic square the sum of number in the six broken diagonals comes to 34 in each case.
a) 15 + 9 + 2 + 8 = 34
 b) 10 + 4 + 7 + 13 = 34
 c) 3 + 5 + 14 + 12 = 34
 d) 6 + 4 + 11 + 13 = 34
 e) 3 + 9 + 14 + 8 =  34
 f) 10 + 16 + 7 + 1 = 34

Further, cut it in 4 equal squares and the numbers in each square will add to 34.Furthermore, can you see more squares within the big square, where the numbers add to 34?
