TACKLING TITLE BARS TROUBLE!

So your window is nearly off the edge of your computer creen?
Don't worry, you can get it back. If you can see any part of a
nearly invisible window's title bar (that thick strip along its top), hold down the mouse button and drag the window back to the center of the screen.

Sometimes, a window's title bar can be completely off the screen. How can you drag it back into view? Start by clicking on any part of the window that shows. Then hold down your Alt key and press the spacebar. A menu appears from nowhere. Select the word Move,  and a mysterious four-headed arrow appears. Press your arrow keys until the window's border moves to a more manageable location and then press Enter.

Maintaining your Computer
  • Keep your computer and hardware data in a safe, central,

  • convenient location.  Whether on index cards or in a small
notebook, record setup information, serial numbers and product
IDs, tech support phone numbers, e-mail and ISP account settings. Be sure you have the original CD-ROM and product key number on hand for your operating system.  Some dealers neglect to supply them on systems with preloaded software, so be sure to request them.  Don't wait until you have a problem and then have to waste time trying to locate the necessary information.
  • Back up your files on a regular basis.  Don't run the risk of

  • losing important files in the event of a computer crash.  If you
are working on a detailed project, keep an up-to-date printed
copy as well as storing a copy on disk.  Regularly check your
backups to be sure they are readable.

  • Check your antivirus software vendor's web site at least once

  • a week  to download updates.  In the event of a new virus
    outbreak, visit the site immediately.
    WINDOWS 98 TIP:

Want to change your desktop background?
You can do it  by right-clicking the mouse anywhere on the
desktop and choosing Properties. This has exactly the same effect as choosing the Desktop icon in the Control Panel.

    WINDOWS AT HOME:

Want to set your computer's clock? The easiest way to do it is to double-click the clock on the taskbar.  You'll notice that there is an option for the clock to adjust itself for Daylight Savings Time.

Want to bypass the Windows 95 Logo when you boot your computer?

Just press escape at bootup. To prevent it from ever occurring, edit the MSDOS.SYS file. Open it find the options section, and
add a new line that says "LOGO=0" (without the quotation marks).
