HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE
Circulated by salman syed
Many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack. without help, the person whose heart stops beating properly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.

However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let up until help arrives, or until the heart isbeating normally again.

Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing
movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital.

Tell as many other people as possible about this, it could save their lives!

Better Get Your B

If you want to keep your heart healthy and strong, you'll say yes to the B vitamins.

According to studies, supplementing your diet with B vitamins, particularly B 9 (folate) and B 12, may help reduce your risk of heart disease. These vitamins help to lower blood homocysteine levels, which have been implicated in the development of cardiovascular disease.

Getting 700 micrograms of folate and 25 micrograms of vitamin B 12 per day can prolong your life expectancy.

Safeguards against heart trouble
  • Regular exercises daily for about 15 minutes or more, rather than exercises for longer time weekly or twice or thrice a week. In certain conditions overexertion or vigorous exercises may precipitate heart attack.
  • Regulate your diet. Eat more onions, garlic, vegetable and fruits and decrease quantities of butter, sugar and other fats.
  • Control weight. Excess weight imposes extra work on the heart.
  • Avoid smoking. People smoking more than five cigarettes a day are exposed to greater risks.
  • Watch Your Blood Pressure. If detected early high blood pressure can usually be brought under control. If your blood pressure starts to rise, your doctor can advise you on changes in your diet and way of your life in order to reduce the risk of heart attack.

  • Most executives go for annual medical check up. It is a must for those aged 40 years or more or those engaged in sedentary occupations or those who have been neglecting regular exercises.
